I’m preparing for next course and I’ve been making the calendar… once again. And I decided to try to make a perpetual one (once and for all, for ever). Just choose the year and it will build automatically.
Here it is (weeks start on Monday):
We see here a link to save it as excel, but I discourage it as excel lacks the function to calculate week numbers, so it will return an error in the corresponding cells. But when week numbers are not required one can simply delete the cells.
For those used to week numbers, the best option is to follow this link: Calendar-Scholar.
This page has an Export button at the upper bar menu allowing to download the file in different formats, including OpenOffice and Open Document. The OpenOffice program does have the function (it’s free and open source).
Another option is the “Preview” button allowing to print the page from our browser.

Wikis are one of the most useful and incredible web 2.0 tools. Just have a look at the Wikipedia to realize their power.
If you’re new to this technology, the following video is the best simplest explanation I’ve found for you.
If you don’t know how to use it for travelers or tourism, this is a example too.

This is a funny post for those who have to deal with tangible and intangible concepts, like people in the tourism sector and studies.
Tourism is an activity among those involving tangible and intangible resources. However, since they have different nature, they follow different rules it’s important to understand.
If we apply tools designed for intangible resources (like web 2.0 tools) to tangible elements (like the common products we find in a normal supermarket), what terrible outcome will we get?

On March 17 & 18, I attended the course “Els rapinyaires del Delta de l’Ebre i dels Ports“.
We had the theory on the 17th in the morning.
The animals we were about to see are classified in the order of Falconiformes, with 4 families:
Carthartidae (sub-order, vultures)
Pandionae (Fish Eagle)
Accipitridae (hawks, eagles, kites, harriers…)
Sagittaridae (secretary bird)
Falconidae (falcons and caracaras)
As for Nocturnal Birds of Prey, we were about to see 2 families:
Tytonidae (Barn-owls)
Strigidae (horned owls, eagle owls…)
About all of them, and generically, we described:
About every specie, we saw slides with pictures and commented their features as:
On the 17th in the afternoon, we enjoyed the direct observation of birds in the Natural Park Delta de l’Ebre, where we could see almost all regular and common species.
As a curiosity, we witnessed a Booted Eagle hunted a Kestrel.
On the following table, I’ve gathered all the birds of prey in Delta de l’Ebre, translated into five languages and with links to the Wikipedia:

As for species’ observation in Natural Park “Els Ports”, we did it on the 18th in the morning, departing from Mas de Barberans and arriving to “Cova del Vidre”. On the following table, I’ve collected the birds of prey in Els Ports:

Sharing the plug-ins, which best work for us? Not a bad idea at all, mainly bearing in mind the whole bunch of available plug-ins for WordPress.
The other day, while talking to Ferran (who has a brand new WordPress for his LliberNatura) he suggested me that I could write a post about the WordPress plug-ins I use the most. And I thought this was a good idea… so here I go.
This is my selection. All of them are compatible with WordPress 2.1.2, the version I have installed right now.
Among the must-haves, an anti-spam should be included, but I kept it a part because I want to bring your attention to a plugin I couldn’t try because my WordPress version doesn’t recognize it, but it looks really well. It’s an anti-spam I found in the Basar de les espècies, developed by Diego Sevilla. All in all, however, I have to say that up to now my Akismet is working very well.

Blogging is a serious thing.
When you make pop you cannot stop 🙂
After more than one year in Blogger, I’m now in a WordPress with my domain to start a new project: a more focused blog than the previous one, in five language independent versions.
I’m starting without some things I’ll learn on the way, so thanks for your patience…
