Week 25 on Turismo 2.0

Hi, friends,

This week has been featured by two or three debates where the majority of opinions have been pored. This is why we don’t have the same activity level as for new proposals, but possibly the number of participants has increased as well as the debates’ extension.

Here we go:

Week 25 summary

POSTS:

1- “Cuéntame” about tourism (Joan Gou). Emulating the popular TV program, he tells us the way things were in the past.
2- Small hotels: a space question (David Delgado). Small but very attractive hotels. Give attention to the one with concrete tubes .
3- Is the strong touroperators’ concentration positive or negative for tourism activities? Part II (Jesús Álvarez). Continuation from last week’s debate.
4- CUSTOMER SATISFACTION HYPOCRISY (Carlos Gómez)
5- VUELING BILBAO.!!! WATCH OUT !!! AIRPORT PERSONNEL (Marcos Alonso). Our colleague Marcos ha suffered an awful service by Vueling. All together give him support and make pressure. Juan Sobejano. Rafael Martínez
6- When was taken this picture? (Jordi Ruiz). Jordi questions the truthfulness of ad pictures in catalogues and their retouches.
7- Right-wing Management and left-wing Management? (Juan Sobejano). In an outburst of wisdom, he approaches Management styles related to politic trends. Did you ever ask this before?
8- 2.0 keywords (Jordi Ruiz). We are entering a new era and we have to start again learning new vocabulary. The new language spreads out. A guide to avoid getting lost.
9- Is it worth to invest in Fitur? (Carlo Álvarez). Again, as he did last week, he’s very realistic and discusses the practice of doing things just to follow the fashion trend, or simply because “they must be done”, without any reason.
10- Marketing on line: beyond search engines (Enrique Fernández). “Why I don’t sell if I’m doing the same things the rest do? (Answer: precisely because of that)”. Congratulations to Enrique on this four articles.

OUTSTANDING: Is the strong touroperators’ concentration positive or negative???? (Jesús Álvarez). Although it started last week, its evolution gained its place in this special paragraph. We strongly recommend to read it. A good work has been developed, which could become real.

BLOGROLL:

1- Yahoo! presents the latest news on digital marketing (Nando Llorella). Nando, “the inexhaustible source” for news on the net, presents us this new one.
2- Redefining Customer Loyalty (Albert Barra).
3- Where do yo book online? (J. Antonio Donaire). Oh my!, this could be the origin of a new debate. Intermediation again. Brrrrrr.
4- What is Tourism 2.0? definition and key concepts (Edu William). Edu embeds his presentation on his blog and does so in English, as he promised last week.
5- Continuous copies (Jorge Gobbi). A new claim by Jorge. His articles are being copied and he cannot stop it.
6- SEO tricks: Is it worth to use the sitemap.xml? (Nando Llorella). More tricks
7- From the top, in video (Jorge Gobbi). Spectacular images from the Top of The Rock in New York
8- AN INTERESTING JANUARY (Víctor Mayans). To remember two important events taking place next week. (Encuentro Anual Turismo 2.0 and Wine & Blog).

SPECIAL MENTION: Vueling have to improve their Human Resources Management urgently. (Juan Sobejano). Originated because of the above-mentioned Marcos Alonso’s post generating a lot of comments giving him support and even reaching a Vueling’s employee. The employee tries to excuse his company without success, including doubts about Marco’s version. We encourage you to read it and give your opinion.

OTHERS:

Global Tourism. A reality? A threat? (Oriol Miralbell). Oriol proposes a new and deep debate about a vogue question nowadays. Globalization from the point of view of tourism.
Hotel integration with several services (David Delgado). A practice of imagination in search of a creative business for hotels. It has imagination but it could be right too.
On the last-minute sales (Andreu Roig)
ON THE GASTRONOMIC MEETING 2.O IN ABADAL : 09th FEBRUARY. Another action taken to practice. Started by Angels Bueno and commanded by Manuel Colmenero and Joan Gou, as ringleader of the COMANDO CARIÑENA.

See you next week

Thanks, Rafael!

10- A gift for you (Nacho Giral). What’s remarkable here is the great marketing 2.0 action by the Atrápalo’s team.

Some ad posts arose. I bring it to attention without any judgment. Here it is for your consideration.

– And to finish. the great sensation of the week, with the privilege of making history in Turismo 2.0 :

HOTELS OVERBOOKING , discussion created by Alisont Liet, who simply had a doubt and, unexpectedly, created a “row” going down in history. Nobody should miss shuch an explosion of intelligent comments.

Week 23 on Turismo 2.0

Dear friends, this is a new translation from Rafael’s summary for this week.
Another briefing, and this is 7th one. This week, after the hangover’s holidays, April fool jokes (in Spain on Dec. 28), simulated resigns and dancings, we’re becoming more serious and we’re starting the 2008 powerfully.
Starting this year, and as a line to be followed in next summaries, Rafa choses 11 posts from Turismo 2.0 and 11 posts from blogs. In both selections, one of the posts will be honored as outstanding and special respectively. This is the briefing, with this newly organized format. Here we go…

Week 23 Summary

10 POSTS + 1 outstanding:

  1. Final solution to the great April fool joke. Who acquires Turismo 2.0? by Albert barra
  2. On Contents I, On Contents II by Jordi Ruiz. For those with doubts about how to write a blog. A great lesson.
  3. 13 predictions for Facebook in 2008 by Juan Antonio Rodríguez Gamero. Somehow conceited, but if the become real…
  4. Joan Gou, we love you, come back, please by Albert Barra, as an answer to the threat by Joan Gou about leaving the community, because of the April fool joke. Very expensive would have turned out.
  5. The sales man analysis by Pere Martí. As you can see, any person, in the labour environment, has her/his roles and several definitions. If you want to succeed in anything, you have to tend to meet the right definition in every case
  6. WORLDWOMIA by Anna Soliquer. Following the petition by several Turismo 2.o members, Anna exhibits herself with a mastering post.
  7. In 2007 by Jordi Ruiz, sharing with us what things have been the most important ones for him in 2007 and what he desires for 2008
  8. Vertical Integrations in the Hotel places: from market synergies to Social Benefits, by David Vicent. A new conception of hotel business. A truly innovative proposal. Will he be a visionary person?.
  9. High-Powered Flights by Manuel Colmenero. A very interesting article with three real cases about managing customer’s needs.
  10. Am I “posting”? by María. We already know it, someone arrives, does write something as an introduction, and the party is ready. This time, the scene was a lift and a neighbor community. It’s the fun side of the week.

OUTSTANDING POST OF THE WEEK:

  • Letter to Peter Drucker, with more than 40 comments, all very interesting. It’s been the origin of a debate to go down in history.

BLOGROLL (10 articles + 1 special mention):

  1. If you drink don’t read Sobejano (Edu William). Ironic mix between the April fool joke and party night.
  2. What happened with the Hosteltur Community? (Nando Llorella). Nobody commented again about the news on early November. What happened?
  3. Hotels and ISO standards (Juan Sobejano). Over Quality again and again, we see it’s not on paperwork.
  4. Act of revenge (Joan Gou)
  5. Banksy tour ( José Antonio Donaire). A visual spectacle and an original touristic ad.
  6. Storytelling (Isaac Vidal). Talking about the importance of storytelling in communication.
  7. 2008 the consolidation of R-evolucion and NETworking relationships (Jimmy Pons). What started in 2007, will be consolidated in. Another visionary person.
  8. The control effect (Juan Sobejano). An excessive focus on control, creates chaos. (boomerang effect)
  9. Winners of the Friendly Writer Game (The hotel). First winners for a night in a hotel room in “The Hotel”. Notice that Rafael Martinez is one of them. Congratulations, Rafael!!!
  10. The time 2.0 concept (Joantxo Llantada). Magnificent article where Joantxo talks about time in relation with perception, attention, …

SPECIAL MENTION: Hotel Marketing in the New Millenium. First Albert Barra’s e-Book.

OTHERS:

We’ve been sold by Juan Sobejano, to top the joke off and spread the hesitation.
To the whole community, by Joan Gou. In this discussion, the possibility to create an alternative forum instead of Plan de Turismo 2020 is exposed. Really interesting. Feel free to participate.
Reception Department by Rafael Martínez, recommending to everybody to participate to this discussion from his group of Hotel Procedures and observe the impeccable work by Jaione Bilbao.
Behaviours of the Chinese Tourist, by Angels Bueno
Business / commercial hours, by Jordi Marti. Are business hours well approached?. In fact, this is a post, but because we had already written 10, and there was no more space, it comes to the Others section. As Rafael makes his bed, so must lie upon it (I’m not sure of its exact meaning in English, but the Spanish expression means he makes the rules and he receives them).

– As you can see, all along this section appears, at the left column, the paper proposals to present to the Annual Event, closer day by day. Let’s getting engaged, it only takes 10 minutes and surely there are many people who have interesting content to show to the rest.

Special side-prize:

You shouldn’t keep exclusive ownership of your knowledge, by Rafael Martinez. A remarkable article about the value of sharing knowledge as a beautiful opportunity for hotels. I truly recommend to follow the 6 point list whether you’re an individual or an entity.

See you next Friday.

Thanks, Rafael!

Week 22 on Turismo 2.0

Dear friends, here you have a quick translation from the fantastic summary Rafael Martinez writes every week.

I’ve been busy today, the whole day, preparing everything cause I’m leaving to Munich in a few hours… so I take this opportunity to wish you all a Wonderful New Years’ Eve !!!!

Here it goes the summary:

Week 22 Briefing

POSTS:

A small and logical decline in posts’ productivity. From last week’s 60 posts (record) to 25 this week. Sure, holidays, family meetings, parties, feasts,… In spite of everything, we’ve got issues to comment. This is Rafael’s selection:

1-Original and diverse Christmas’ greetings continue, as those from Nicolás Rodríguez, Jorge Ferrari, Javier García Cuenca or Fernanda Jaton.

2-Another greeting, worth of a special mention, as always, the one in TURISPOD by Jimmy & Jordi

3-Let’s Rafael refer to a post he will ever remember, by Marcos Alonso and dedicated to Rafael. He’s really thankful, even more because Marcos is such an intelligent person. The post is called “A Rafael Martínez con Amor”. There were, however, some comments, which disappeared:

4- About the above-mentioned erased comments, Rafael wonders whether the discussion about Barça – Real Madrid could have any influence on it?

5-Two analysis of Year 2007: The one by Joan Gou. The one by Albert Barra.

6-Juan Sobejano comes to scene again with “Del mensaje y del mensajero”

7-Joantxo Llantada and the Insights, in reference to a post by Victor Mayans already included in another weekly briefing, the first one (week 17).

8-Please vote, we’re all interested in. What are we talking about?:

TURISMO 2.0 IS NOMINATED TO THE YAHOO 2007 AWARDS FOR THE WEB REVELATION THIS YEAR

BLOGROLL:

1- The ill-matched Digital Canon (Edu William)

2- Detailed and very well done study on tourism web pages (Nando Llorella). And also by Nando a new and interesting “SEO trick”

3- Very interesting article about public posters mentioned by their absurd messages (Jorge Gobbi)

4- You usually read them, but… Would you like to listen and see them?: Hosteltur TV

5- Special mention to the talent and creativity in the Chirstmas greeting published by Carme Pla (hey! this is me! 🙂 ) Olé!

OTHERS:

– Reactivation in the debate “Reception Department” in the group “Hotel procedures and training”. It’s been firmly reactivated by Jaione Bilbao Henry. I recommend everyone to participate. We specially recommend this one because in the last 3 days has received 30 new participations.

– Edu opened a debate line on technological surveillance

– And, to finish, the last, bad new, about the sale of Turismo 2.0, and the logical reaction by the community. No comments.

NEW GROUPS:

– Not only no new groups have been created, but also one recent group: “Formación hotelera”, has disappeared. Any explanation?.

That’s all, folks.

Thanks to Rafael.

As for me, back from Munich on January 2.
Next summary on next Friday.

Love,

Carme

Finally, the number 1000 member arrived, he’s Julián and he doesn’t show a picture. What a pitty. His welcome process is as expected. Last August, a community was born in Spain about Tourism, called Turismo 2.0, with a remarkable popularity. Let me check the current statistics: 945 members up to now.

Since it’s becoming increasingly hard to follow all conversations, I find it really useful to have a look at the weekly briefings Rafael Martinez publishes on Hoteles 2.0.

I will be translating them for the English Arm of Turismo 2.0, the Travel Web Cafe group, to share the summaries with our English speaking friends.

Enjoy!
